Done properly
Crests, badges and blazer embroidery done properly
A school crest carries a lot of meaning, and it deserves to be reproduced exactly — not approximated. Doree has been embroidering for Queensland since 1934, and school work is some of the most detail-sensitive we do.
We digitise each crest in-house so the shield, motto, colours and fine linework come out crisp and true to the original, then keep that setup on file so every garment carries an identical crest. Blazers are their own craft: pocket crests need to be placed and stitched so they sit square and flat on a structured wool blazer, without puckering or distortion — the difference between a blazer that looks properly finished and one that doesn't. Alongside blazer pockets we handle badges of every kind, from house, honour and colours badges to name badges, embroidered hats and caps. Whether it's a single prefect badge or a full year-level run, it's stitched to the same standard.
Who we work with
Working with school uniform shops and P&C associations
Most school embroidery reaches us through the people who manage uniforms day to day, and we're set up to work with all of them.
We supply uniform shops and P&C and P&F associations with decorated stock, embroider blazers and garments a school provides, and also take orders directly from parents where a school prefers that. Because your crest and badge artwork is digitised once and stored with us, everyone ordering against it gets the same result — the shop's blazers, the P&C's spirit wear and a parent's replacement jumper all carry the identical crest. There's no need to change your garment range or supplier: we're a decorator, so we work into whatever blazers and uniform stock you already use, and hand them back embroidered to spec.
Timing
Lead times for term 1 and mid-year intakes
School embroidery runs to a calendar, and term 1 is the crunch. Demand peaks from late in the year through January as families prepare for back-to-school.
The earlier a school or uniform shop places its term 1 order, the safer the timing — we recommend booking blazer and crest runs well ahead of the first day rather than in the final weeks. Mid-year intakes and new enrolments are more straightforward: because your crest setup is already on file, a top-up order for a handful of new students is quick to turn around and matches what everyone else is wearing. With close to 150 embroidery heads under one Brisbane roof, we have the capacity to handle back-to-school volume and still keep reorders moving through the year.

Common questions
School embroidery FAQs
How far in advance should schools order for term 1?
As early as you can. Demand peaks from late in the year through January, so we recommend schools and uniform shops place term 1 blazer and crest orders well before the term starts rather than in the final weeks — booking ahead is the surest way to have everything ready for the first day. Tell us your numbers early and we can plan the run around your term dates.
Can you replicate an existing school crest exactly?
Yes. We digitise crests in-house and reproduce the shield, motto, colours and fine detail true to your original, then store that setup so every future garment carries an identical crest. If you have existing embroidered garments or artwork, send them through and we'll match them.
Do you work with school uniform shops directly, or only with parents?
Both. We supply uniform shops and P&C / P&F associations with decorated stock, work directly with schools, and also take orders from parents where the school prefers that. Whoever orders, the crest is stitched from the same stored setup, so it stays consistent across every garment.
